A high-level consultative meeting on government formation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir was held in Murree under the chairmanship of PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif.According to sources, the meeting held detailed discussions on government formation in Azad Kashmir, the election of the Leader of the House and other key parliamentary and constitutional positions.The PML-N parliamentary party has entrusted Nawaz Sharif with the final authority to decide the candidate for the Leader of the House.According to sources, Nawaz Sharif will announce the name of the Leader of the House of Azad Kashmir within the next few days.The meeting was attended by newly elected PML-N members of the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly. The party’s parliamentary position and the required political support for government formation were also reviewed in detail.
Consultations were also held regarding contacts with independent members and other political parties.The meeting also discussed the elections for the Speaker and Deputy Speaker, as well as potential candidates for key constitutional and parliamentary positions in the Azad Kashmir government.The positions of the President of Azad Kashmir and the Most Senior Minister were also discussed during the meeting.The PML-N leadership finalized its roadmap for government formation in Azad Kashmir and expressed its commitment to ensuring a stable government and parliamentary harmony.According to sources, good governance, development and resolving public issues will be among the key priorities of the new government.The meeting also reviewed proposed government priorities relating to employment, basic facilities and public welfare projects.The PML-N leadership agreed on the formation of an effective and active government in Azad Kashmir.Consultations were also held at the party leadership level regarding candidates for reserved seats.Names received for women, technocrat, overseas and Ulema seats were also considered.According to sources, the election process for the Leader of the House, Speaker and Deputy Speaker in Azad Kashmir is expected to be completed next week.
Sources said the PML-N’s government formation process in Azad Kashmir will move forward after approval from Nawaz Sharif.Addressing the newly elected members, Nawaz Sharif said they had contested the elections under very difficult circumstances.Nawaz Sharif congratulated the members and directed them to serve the people of Kashmir.Nawaz Sharif announced that the PML-N would provide full support to the government to be formed in Azad Kashmir.The PML-N Quaid expressed his determination to introduce public welfare and development projects in Azad Kashmir along the lines of Punjab.Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and former Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz also attended the meeting.
National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar were also present.Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Rana Sanaullah Khan, Senator Pervaiz Rashid and Engineer Amir Muqam also participated in the meeting.Ahsan Iqbal, Captain (R) Muhammad Safdar, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Senator Anusha Rahman and Talal Chaudhry also attended.Shah Ghulam Qadir, Raja Farooq Haider, Mushtaq Minhas, Tariq Farooq and other senior PML-N leaders also participated in the meeting.Senior leaders of the PML-N from Pakistan and Azad Kashmir were also present.According to sources, AJK PML-N President Shah Ghulam Qadir and Secretary General Chaudhry Tariq Farooq are among the leading contenders for the position of Leader of the House.PML-N sources said that after deliberation on the two names, a final decision on the new Leader of the House will be announced.
