Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s victory in the Azad Kashmir elections has proved that the people have rejected politics of chaos and violence.
Addressing a PML-N party meeting in Murree, Maryam Nawaz said the people of Azad Kashmir chose development despite difficult circumstances. She said “Pakistan Zindabad” slogans were raised at PML-N rallies and disruptive elements were decisively defeated.
She said party leaders and workers, including Amir Muqam, Rana Sanaullah and Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, worked tirelessly during the elections. According to Maryam Nawaz, PML-N has regained its majority in Kashmir, but the real test has now begun after the elections.
Maryam Nawaz said that after forming the government, not a single day should be wasted. She said they had come to Kashmir not to enjoy protocol and dinners, but to serve the people and deliver development.
The Punjab chief minister said Nawaz Sharif’s name is associated with development projects across the country and described him as the founder of modern Pakistan. She said the Azad Kashmir election results had also given a strong response to those who claimed that PML-N was becoming weak or nearing its end.
Taking aim at the Pakistan Peoples Party, Maryam Nawaz said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had congratulated the PPP after the Gilgit-Baltistan elections, but regretted that the PPP later levelled allegations of rigging. She questioned why such allegations were not raised where the PPP itself had won.
She also criticized the situation in Sindh, saying the province has been governed by the PPP for 17 years, yet its roads and buses remain in poor condition and sanitation is also inadequate.
Maryam Nawaz further said that perhaps no other political party had faced as many conspiracies as PML-N. She recalled that in the 2021 Kashmir elections, PML-N had won 17 seats while PTI secured three, but that result was overturned. She said, الحمدللہ, PML-N has now regained its majority.
