QUETTA (MNN); At least eight people, including a young girl, lost their lives in two separate incidents of tribal violence in Balochistan on Sunday, officials confirmed. The deadly incidents occurred in Qila Abdullah and Dera Bugti, prompting law enforcement authorities to launch investigations and strengthen security in the affected areas.

In the first incident, unidentified armed men stormed Killi Badawan in Qila Abdullah and opened indiscriminate fire on members of a rival tribe. According to police, four tribesmen were killed instantly after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds, while a young girl later succumbed to her injuries during treatment in Quetta.

Officials said the attackers fired hundreds of rounds into the air before fleeing the scene. A heavy contingent of police and other law enforcement agencies reached the area and initiated a search operation to apprehend those responsible.

Preliminary investigations suggest the attack was linked to a longstanding tribal feud. Police said the assailants believed they had avenged the earlier killing of six members of their tribe, with one of the attackers reportedly declaring at the scene that revenge had been carried out.

Following the attack, members of the affected tribe placed the victims’ bodies on the Quetta–Chaman Highway, blocking traffic and demanding the immediate arrest of those involved. The protest ended after successful negotiations between Deputy Commissioner Qila Abdullah Manzoor Magsi, the Assistant Commissioner, and tribal elders, allowing traffic to resume after several hours.

In a separate incident in Dera Bugti, a dispute over a marriage proposal escalated into an armed clash between two rival factions of the Bugti tribe.

According to police, both groups took positions with automatic weapons and exchanged heavy gunfire, leaving four people dead and another injured. The injured individual was shifted to the district hospital for medical treatment.

Law enforcement personnel have been deployed in the area to prevent further violence, while authorities continue investigations into both incidents.
