KARACHI (MNN); At least three Sindh Rangers personnel were martyred after terrorists launched an attack on a Rangers facility in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar area on Saturday, according to Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho.
The IG said initial reports indicate that three terrorists were also killed during the operation. The attackers allegedly rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the main gate of the local Rangers headquarters before opening fire. Authorities are still verifying whether a blast occurred during the assault.
A clearance operation is currently underway, with Special Security Unit (SSU) commandos, the Anti-Terrorist Force (ATF), and Rangers personnel securing the area.
Security forces rushed to the scene after reports of heavy gunfire and an explosion. Police, Rapid Response Force units, and commandos have cordoned off the locality.
Rescue 1122 Sindh dispatched emergency teams immediately after receiving reports of an explosion near Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 5. Senior rescue officials also reached the site to supervise relief efforts.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Home Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar have taken notice of the incident and directed law enforcement authorities to submit detailed reports while ensuring all necessary security measures are in place.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation as investigations and clearance operations remain in progress.
