This article is not about all men, it is about few men! With respect for all men except a few men.
“Learn this now, and learn it well, my daughter : Like a compass needle that points north, a man’s accusing finger always finds a women. Always. You Remember that!”. _ Khalid Hosseini(Novelist)
When someone raises the topic for women’s right and security, few men always get offended and start torturing women mentally that women are blunt, they are born to be “fully domesticated” women, and should take care of so-called masculinity but they do not bother to look into the list of their own responsibilities and duties of taking care of women, their health, education and most importantly their fundamental rights. All they do is to accuse women, throw acid on their faces and kill them out of rage. According to the Smile Again Foundation and the Pulitzer Center, approximately 200 acid attacks are reported annually in Pakistan, and the majority of victims are women. Common reasons include rejection of marriage proposals, giving birth to daughters, and not bringing enough dowry. But unfortunately nobody asks them back about the injustice and cruelty they do with women, however, other men also blame women for responding back or refusing those egotistic men.
It’s really heartbreaking that some ill tempered men of our society always torture, kill, depress, suppress, suffer, and suffocate women. Unfortunately, they consider women as a “THING” not human being who deserve to be treated well. Today, I’m shedding light on the tremendous issue of our society which is out of sight and never took into account at all due to which this issue is escalating day by day. Moreover, it also neglected because of ignorance and male dominance in our patriarchal and uneducated and regressive society. Thus, young women become the victim of men’s shallow ego and being burnt out and killed by the hands of men ; sometimes in disguise of love and sometimes for honour. According to Human Rights Watch’s World Report 2025, approximately 1,000 women are murdered in so-called “honour killings” every year in Pakistan, yet the government has not taken meaningful steps in response.
I’m writing it regretfully that nobody bothered to raise voice against it or stop it ever due to which it took roots in the depth of our society and women are no longer safe even in their own HOMES. In spite of the safe place this society is turning out hell for them where every breath is polluted of male’s shallow ego and where women are burned with acid and society normalizes it. A recent and heartbreaking example is Dr. Mahnoor Nasir, a 29-year-old doctor who was attacked with acid while on duty at Civil Sandeman Hospital in Quetta on June 5, 2026 ;by a hospital lift operator who had been harassing her for months. She was airlifted to Karachi for treatment. A woman went to work to save lives, and someone tried to burn her alive. According to a 2025 report, 60% of gender-based violence incidents occur inside the victim’s own home ; proving that home is no longer a safe space for women in Pakistan.
I frankly admire this writer, Khalid Hosseini, who belongs to the male gender category but having a progressive mentality and consciousness because he call out women security and vividly reveals the brutal truth of our society where women suffer and are victim of men’s fragile ego. He confidently scratch the mask of so called honour and exposes the hypocritical side of society.
Each day in Pakistan it’ is shown in headlines that a woman become the victim of male ill mentality and shallow ego. According to the SSDO’s Mapping Gender-Based Violence in Pakistan 2024 report, a total of 32,617 gender-based violence cases were reported nationwide in 2024, including 5,339 rape cases, 24,439 abduction cases, 2,238 domestic violence cases, and 547 honour killings. It becomes a hot topic on social media for few days, people gain millions of likes and followers through that and at the end, we end up with the same conclusion which is the silencing of woman. Although , on the next day people forget that and start search for new spices(stories) in order to get more likes and followers due to which killing and burning of women by the hands of men are getting increase rapidly. According to Sahil’s annual report, gender-based violence incidents rose by 25% in just one year; from 5,253 cases in 2024 to 6,543 cases in 2025, including 1,414 murders, 585 rapes, and 1,060 physical assaults. Unfortunately it unknowingly become the norm of our society, some ignorant members of our society still consider it acceptable and fair and paints women as worthless and incompetent creature of society as they deserve to be treated ill.

I read somewhere that a fisherman was looking at the fish and she thought that he loves her. This posits that men are predators of women, do not take them for granted and never blend their lust for love. They did, they do and they will always prey women and harm them whenever they get the chance. Because there is no law to restrain these predators, to crush their head and provide security of life to the women. Despite thousands of reported cases, justice remains nearly absent. The national conviction rate for rape stands at just 0.5%, for honour killings 0.5%, for kidnapping and abduction a shocking 0.1%, and for domestic violence only 1.3%. Women get killed and burn by the fragile ego of some men, and still men live and enjoy the life the way they want.
Some gullible women consider them safe place but that is the place where they lost their lives and get hurt. All women should not expect men to give them rights and provide them comfort zone despite her own family. And probably they temporarily provide safety but whenever men feel offended they blame and accuse women and start picking out their flaws to prove them guilty in the eyes of society. They will never be honest and affectionate towards women. I would like to suggest that women! Please do not rely on men, focus on your abilities , strength, skills, and grow independently because not every flower needs a garden to bloom.
Furthermore, some men of our society must know their limits and learn to accept the rejection of proposal. Everyday thousand of women are reject by men but they never throw harmful liquid or acid on anyone face, they never start harassing men, they never kill men. However, due to poor upbringing some men stoop so low. Because of only one word ‘NO’ they take rejection very personally and never thought that it’s their right, directly harm or brutally kill women.A devastating real example is 17-year-old Sana Yousaf, a TikTok influencer with over one million followers who promoted girls’ education and women’s empowerment. On June 2, 2025, less than 24 hours after posting her birthday video, she was shot dead inside her own home in Islamabad by a 22-year-old man who had repeatedly pursued her online. She said NO. That one word cost her her life. In Punjab alone, at least 85 women suffer violence every single day, including an average of 9 sexual assaults and 51 kidnapping cases reported daily in 2025. Sadly, nobody even ask men a single question that “Why you did so?” because it is being normalized in our society.
I humbly request our prestigious government to enforce strict laws and take some serious action against those men who refuse to know their limits, and who assume women their own property. More importantly local law enforcement needs to address these issues and make society a safe and productive place for women as well. They have to make balance in the society, should treat women respectfully and must enforce laws for women’s security. They must punish men’s with this sick mentality and should make them a severe example of them to deter others. In Islamabad alone, 373 cases of violence against women were reported in just the first six months of 2025, yet not a single conviction was recorded; a complete failure of the justice system. Pakistan has been ranked as one of the most dangerous countries in the world for women. This is not just a statistic, it is a national emergency that demands immediate action. In order to make it a strong lesson for other men and stop them from further accusations and harmful act they have to spread awareness in local areas regard penalty and worse punishment.
