QUETTA (MNN); At least four local residents were killed and seven others injured after armed men attacked the Hanna Urak area of Quetta, prompting a large-scale security operation, Balochistan Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar said on Monday.
According to the provincial minister, one of the injured is in critical condition, while all wounded have been shifted to the Trauma Centre for emergency medical treatment.
Bakht Muhammad Kakar said personnel of the Frontier Corps (FC), police, and other security agencies have reached the area and launched an operation against the armed assailants.
He added that local residents are standing alongside the security forces and will jointly confront the attackers. The minister also confirmed that the situation is being closely monitored and an emergency has been declared at all government hospitals in Quetta.
Interior Minister Visits Site
Meanwhile, Balochistan Interior Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove took notice of the incident and visited Hanna Urak and the Airport Road area.
The minister held talks with tribal elders and protesters present at the scene, expressing deep sorrow over the deaths of local tribesmen.
Langove assured the affected families that the provincial government stands firmly with the victims and will take strict action against those responsible.
He reiterated that the government remains committed to supporting the local tribes and ensuring peace and security in the area.
Officials confirmed that Airport Road near BA Mall remains closed to traffic due to the ongoing situation.
