Dubai: MNN
A ceremony marking Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir was held at the Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai, where members of the Pakistani and Kashmiri communities gathered to express solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The event commemorated India’s unilateral actions of August 5, 2019, regarding the internationally recognized disputed status of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Addressing the ceremony, Consul General Hussain Muhammad said the day symbolizes the sacrifices, resilience, and unwavering struggle of the Kashmiri people. He paid tribute to their courage in the face of continued hardships.
He stated that August 5, 2019, marked a critical turning point in the Jammu and Kashmir dispute and reiterated that India’s unilateral measures cannot alter the internationally recognized disputed status of the territory or deny the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
The Consul General said, “Kashmir is not merely a piece of land; it is a history, an identity, and the hopes and aspirations of millions.” He stressed that a just and lasting settlement of the dispute can only be achieved in accordance with international law and the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s continued political, diplomatic, and moral support for the Kashmiri people, he urged Pakistani and Kashmiri communities abroad to continue raising awareness about the human rights situation in IIOJK.
Messages from Pakistan’s leadership expressing solidarity with the Kashmiri people were also read out, while the ceremony featured a photo exhibition and a special documentary highlighting the human rights situation in IIOJK.
