All Office-Bearers Elected Unopposed in RISJA Elections for 2026–27

The Rawalpindi-Islamabad Sports Journalists Association, or RISJA, has announced its new leadership for the 2026–27 term, with all office-bearers elected unopposed. The election committee officially declared the results after completing the electoral process۔
The Rawalpindi-Islamabad Sports Journalists Association (RISJA) has elected its new office-bearers for the 2026–27 term, with all candidates returned unopposed.
The election process was conducted under the supervision of the Election Committee headed by Shahryar Khan, with Rana Farhan Aslam, Shakir Abbasi, and Asim Jilani serving as committee members.
Following the completion of the electoral process, the committee officially announced the results.
Abu Bakar Bin Talat was re-elected President for a second consecutive term, while Zulfiqar Baig was elected Senior Vice President.
Zahid Awan and Asghar Ali Mubarak were elected Vice Presidents, Ambreen Ali was elected General Secretary, Zeeshan Qayyum Senior Joint Secretary, Owais Latif and Aqeel Anjum Joint Secretaries, while Nasir Abbas Naqvi was elected Finance Secretary.
For the Governing Body, Faheem Anwar Khan, Gabriel D’Souza, Owais Abbasi, Kiran Khan, and Asim Riaz were also elected unopposed.


Speaking on the occasion, President Abu Bakar Bin Talat and General Secretary Ambreen Ali thanked RISJA members for their trust and confidence. They pledged to strengthen the association’s professional traditions, unity, transparency, and credibility.
They also reaffirmed their commitment to promoting sports journalism, upholding professional ethics, and enhancing cooperation among sports journalists.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists President Afzal Butt, National Press Club President Abdul Razaq Sial, Secretary Furqan Rao, Vice President Usman Khan, along with senior journalists and media representatives, congratulated the newly elected office-bearers.
They expressed confidence that the new leadership would further strengthen RISJA and continue working for the welfare of sports journalists while promoting the highest standards of journalism.
The newly elected RISJA leadership will assume office for the 2026–27 term, with a renewed focus on protecting journalists’ rights and promoting professional excellence in sports journalism.
