Former Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during the National Assembly session when the Prime Minister visited the opposition benches. The meeting focused on provincial rights and the issue of tax exemptions for FATA and PATA.
The discussion highlighted the problems faced by tobacco growers of Swabi, particularly the abolition of the newly imposed Rs. 390 per kg tax, payment of outstanding dues of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the adverse impact on business activities in the province due to the closure of the Pak-Afghan border.
Matters relating to the alleged mistreatment of Imran Khan, his wife, and PTI leadership in jail, restrictions on meetings, violation of fundamental human and legal rights, and the Charter of Democracy were also discussed in detail.

On the direction of the Prime Minister, a PTI delegation led by Asad Qaiser held a meeting with Federal Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb, Senator Rana Sanaullah, and Federal Minister Amir Muqam at the Parliament House. The meeting took place in the Finance Minister’s chamber. The delegation discussed the imposition of taxes in FATA, taxation on tobacco, and other key issues. The Finance Minister stated that a decision regarding tax exemptions would be taken after consultation with his team.
Asad Qaiser said that they are democrats and have always played their role in strengthening Parliament. He added that whenever national interest is at stake, political differences are set aside in favour of the country’s interest. The delegation included MNAs Junaid Akbar Khan, Dr. Amjad Ali Khan, Mahboob Shah, Salim ur Rehman, Malik Anwar Taj, Hameed ur Rehman, Sahibzada Sibghatullah, Sajid Mohmand, and Senator Zeeshan Khanzada.
